Steering Column Noise - Update

Well, here we are on day three and I just spoke to Ray at the service department.  He said it looks like we will be in the loaner until at least Monday of next week.  He said they needed to order some parts for the vehicle and get in contact with the warranty company.  The problem seems to be related to the Rack and Pinion Steering along with the Tie Rods.

He stated he was sure it would be covered but i am not holding my breath until he calls me back to confirm.

I don't expect to hear anything until next week, so check back next week to see how this one unfolds.

Fixed..... or Not

Well, we had the car in for service since the parts they ordered came in.  I sat around for about 2 hours while the work was done, signed, and thought I was going to be out the door with a fixed car and no cost.  Jump in, start to drive away, and zero change with the noise/vibration in the steering column.  Didn't even drive out of the garage, threw it in reverse and got out to talk to the service guy (Jerry).  Showed him what the noise was AGAIN and he said I would have to bring it back.

REALLY?!?!?!?!  I came in to get this fixed, you made me go home so you can order parts, I brought it back in and you did work.  The problem still exists, and now you are saying I have to come back again another day? I am already here.

Unfortunately I got nowhere so I made an appointment and demanded I get a free loaner this time because this is about the 5th time we brought the car in for this exact same reason and each time they "fix" something that doesn't resolve the issue.

My appointment was first thing in the morning yesterday (Tuesday Jan 14th). I dropped it off, picked up my free loaner and was on my way.  I received a call a little before 4pm stating they were still trying to diagnose the problem.  I guess we will see what happens.

Update 1/15/2014 @ 1:45pm cst.

Looks like they will end up keeping the Pilot for another day to try to identify what the problem is. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this ends up being something that is covered by warranty.

Engine Misfire Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

While looking through some mail I came across a letter and some information in regards to a class action lawsuit for engine misfire. I started reading the paperwork, which you can also fine at www.enginemisfiresettlement.com and realized I had a similar issue back in the summer of 2013. Sure enough I was able to find the repair paperwork as well as this post which I posted about the issues.

Luckily my paperwork is showing that when they scanned the car the diagnostic code which was logged was P0302 which is covered under this settlement.  I will be filling out my paperwork and submitting my claim to get reimbursed for the full $378.26.

For more information on this settlement please go to www.enginemisfiresettlement.com.  More specific information is located in the Settlement Notice which can be found here: http://settlement-claims.com/enginemisfire/Notice.html
